As a leader in property damage restoration, TRC is requiring compliance with the new Environmental Protection Agency Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting rule. The new EPA regulation which became effective April 22, 2010, requires any contractor renovating, repairing or painting facilities built before 1978 be certified in lead-safe work practices. The rule covers residences together with public and private facilities including some of the following: nursing homes, daycare, healthcare, and schools. Certified individuals must follow specific work practices ensuring that lead hazards are addressed. Lead poisoning can result in irreversible brain damage, learning disabilities, and immune deficiencies.
TRC is a Certified Lead-Fee Renovator
"Compliance with this new rule will be reflected in many areas of our restoration and renovation activities," says TRC president Felix Ontiveros. "Sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips which can be harmful to adults and children. TRC is a certified lead-free renovator and is ensuring that its work practices are safe for our customers and their property."
TRC will also closely monitor the certification of all its vendor subcontractors to ensure compliance with the new EPA Lead RRP requirements, according to Quality Assurance Manager Bill Thomas. Failure to comply with the new rule can result in daily fines of as much as $37,500.
