Dear Friend in Christ,
These days we are all wondering what authentic faith is. We are wondering how we can represent Christ when we are so torn and burdened with life. We have just gone through an election cycle, and none of us are too assured that Oklahoma City and Washington will really be all that different. Our economy gives us an uneasy feeling. Our culture is one of violence, sexual licentiousness, and self-centeredness. Incivility is rampant. What to do?
These or similar woes have always been present in various forms in any age and at any place. Human nature is human nature. It's been an up and down journey since the Garden of Eden. And, we don't know when the Holy City will come down for us and we will live eternally in peace and holiness in God's presence.
Through it all, Jesus stands ready to love the unloveable, forgive the unforgiven, claim those filled with shame, and walk with those who are alone. That mystery of the faith is what we seek to live out.
My prayer is that we at First Church grow closer to Christ and identify ourselves by his claim on our life as we are transformed from one degree of glory to the next. If you are looking for a church home, please worship and serve here. We will try our best to love you, forgive you, claim you, and walk with you.
