The Dowry is Okmulgee Countys most unique gift store. Being in its present location since 1983, it has remained the one constant source of quality gift, great selection, and unequalled service. The downtown has had a lot of changes but any shopper recognizes the shop will always have a great selection for any gift they need. The Dowry label on a gift gives the assurance that it truly has a special gift inside. Linda Janzen, the owner, tells that the shop did not just happen but it is an accumulation of many years of hard work and very fulfilling relationships. The Dowrys mission has been to offer a service oriented location filled with merchandise presented at the best possible value. Our customers are offered assistance with their selections, a gift registry, delivery to the car or to their home and always free gift wrapping. The mix of hundreds of lines and venders create a one of a kind shopping experience. Buyers know when they purchase a gift from the Dowry that it has been personally selected, inspected and beautifully gift wrapped and is the best value available. In todays market with so many items made overseas, the same factory will supply many vendors with the same thing and they in turn offer it to merchants at many different prices. Linda does a lot of shopping and comparing before it is stocked at the store. She does not place merchandise in at exaggerated prices and then have false mark downs as many other stores do. The real strength of a community is one individual caring for another .So many friends and customers have brought product suggestions and ideas to assist in the mix of the selections in the store. She has been privileged to have had many wonderful employees that have added their skills and input to grow the store to what it is today. Sherry Robertson continues to show her talent with display and her award winning window displays. She is assisted by Betty Largent and Beth Cloe. Leslie Robertson is ready to assist with all your shipping needs. It has been a pleasure to offer bridal registries to now second generation brides. Only recently she heard that one bride remembers her mother buying a wedding gift and dreaming of the time she too would have a bridal selection table at the Dowry. Most all name brands are offered in china, crystal, and flatware. We do not want to give the impression that the Dowry is only to be shopped for wedding gifts. Inside the store one will find greeting cards, decorative accessories for the home, baby gifts, potpourri, candles, jewelry, handbags, stationery, coffee, picture frames, cookware, cutlery, bath and table linens, gourmet soup, sauces, jellies and mixes. Gifts can be personalized either by engraving or imprinting. Engraved clocks, trays and plaques are also available. The Dowry is an authorized shipping outlet for UPS and also offers packaging for our customers. Regular hours are 9:30 until 5:30 Monday through Friday although we do close at 4:30 on Saturday.
