How we began:
It was 1978 in Enid, Oklahoma and a group of friends were lamenting the absence of anywhere in town to get a good piece of pie. They decided it was up to one of them to rectify this situation. As a result, Katy Rieger began Katy’s Pantry, a small 8-table “tea shop” serving a house soup and salad, a daily special, a few sandwiches, several pastries, and, of course, outstanding pie. Over the years Katy’s has grown, the menu has expanded, and the customers still can’t get enough.
How we make it taste so good:
All our menu items are prepared fresh daily using the finest ingredients and without preservatives. Our pies and pastries are made from scratch using family recipes and prepared by hand – pie crusts are fluted by hand, cookies are iced by hand, cinnamon rolls are rolled by hand – just like our grandmother made them. Although there has been considerable change from “tea shop” to restaurant the base of quality remains consistent.
How we’re expanding:
In 1995 Katy’s Pantry began producing two of its salad dressings for a few retail markets in Enid and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Both dressings, a Raspberry Poppyseed and a Red Wine Vinaigrette, are extremely popular among Katy’s Pantry clientele. To meet the growing demand for our dressings, we began working with the Food and Agricultural Products Center at Oklahoma State University in 2007 to further develop the recipes for mass production.
Another of our most popular products, our shaped sugar cookies, has been shipped all over the country for years. To make ordering and sending these easier for our customers, we have created this user-friendly website. We plan on adding more products to this website in the future to further assist our customers.
