The Evans' Mobility Unit was designed by a veterinarian, Dr. Claud Evans, and provides ambulatory aid to animals suffering from mobility deficiencies. This cart is made of strong, durable, light-weight metal with a nylon support system. In order to accommodate most small animals, the carts are available in 4 sizes and can be used by animals that range in height from 6 inches to 29 inches at the shoulders. The unit is ideal for animals with rear-end paralysis/deficiencies, but can also be adapted to be used by animals with complete paralysis. Harvesing cashmere by shearing can lead to shear-shock and death in goats during winter months.Therefore a method of harvesting cashmere without shearing was needed. Also, combing of cashmere goats results in a fleece with less guard hair to be removed. On a 3-year study comparing shearing vs. combing, the combed fleece ranged from 73 to 93 percent cashmere, by weight, whereas the sheared fleece ranged from 15 to 21 percent cashmere, by weight. We have designed a fiber rake (comb) that is used for harvesting cashmere from goats. The fiber collects on the tines, making collection very easy. This comb is made of stainless steel with a hardwood handle. The fiber rake can also be used for combing long-haired pets, especially those with dense undercoat.
