FYI from Dr. Robert Talley & Craniofacial Pain Associates of Oklahoma
SLEEP SCREENING - Left untreated, snoring and sleep apnea can put you at increased risk of developing serious health problems including high blood pressure, stroke, congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease. While it cannot replace an exam by a qualified sleep professional, this Self-Scoring Sleep Questionnaire can help you determine if you are at risk.
TMD SCREENING - TMJ-related pain and dysfunction often go undiagnosed. Here's a One-Minute TMD Screening that your healthcare provider can use to assess your potential for a TMJ disorder - especially if no other diagnosis can be made.
DID YOU KNOW... Snoring can lead to sleep apnea because it can change tissue structure. Early treatment of TMD can help prevent you from developing degenerative arthritis.
PAIN POINTER - Yawning. Opening your mouth too wide when yawning can make your jaw joint crack or pop loudly. It can also cause your mouth to lock OPEN. When you feel a yawn coming, tuck your lower lip over your bottom teeth. This will prevent you from opening too widely.
