Light-A-Life began in 1986 as a joint effort between The Salvation Army and Public Service Company of Oklahoma. The program serves all 39 counties served by PSO. LAL provides energy assistance based on need as opposed to strict income guidelines, as other programs do. Qualification for assistance is based primarily on need that arises from situations that are beyond the customer's control; such as job loss, illness, disability, etc. Priority is given to customers who are not receiving other types of assistance and are striving to keep their energy bills current.
