Manufacture of buildings underway
In June 2010, Norseman acquired the assets of the Saskatoon-based Cover-All Building Systems and combined these assets with Norsemans existing fabric building manufacturing business to create Norseman Structures. This new company is now positioned to be a worldwide leader in the manufacturing of steel framed, fabric covered buildings.
"To come across a facility with this kind of skilled work force and knowledge base is almost impossible anywhere else in the world," says Norseman's Vice-president of Marketing Mark Mascotto when asked about the purchase of the Cover-All assets. Along with the largest manufacturing capacity in the world, Norseman Structures now has an international distribution network with dealers in Canada, the USA, Europe and New Zealand, and the ability to distributes products in Africa, the Middle East, and South America. Norseman buildings are used for industrial storage, waste management, site cleanup, recreation facilities, event centers, indoor soccer fields and hockey rinks.
The Edmonton-based Norseman Group has been in the fabric structure business since 1921, when it was primarily a manufacturer of tents, tarps and awnings. Norseman Group is the parent company of a group of companies including Norseman Structures Inc. and Norseman Inc. Norseman Inc. is one of Canadas largest suppliers of industrial fabric and foam products to the construction and bulk packaging industries.
A large part of Norseman Structures focus is now on structure design and engineering integrity. Norseman is undertaking a full review of all building models. Our buildings will be the most modern designs meeting the highest engineering and regulatory standards of any manufacturer out there. We believe no other fabric building company is going through the process we are going through today. states Mascotto.
Norseman is proud to have achieved CSA A660 and CWB certification and expects AWS certification approval in the very near future. These certifications ensure quality standards and set us apart from any competitors product.
The company has already started production, but is still focused on the work that has to be done on the new designs. Getting back up to speed is a slow, methodical process that values strength over speed and security over profit, says Mascotto.
